The FDNY held its 156th Medal Day Ceremony on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, honoring the lifesaving actions by its members during incidents throughout the previous calendar year. The ceremony, which dates back to 1869, is one of the Department's most time-honored traditions.
At a Public Information Briefing on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, FDNY officials provided an update on a 3-alarm fire in Brooklyn.
The FDNY promoted members of Fire Operations to several officer ranks during a ceremony on Thursday, May 29, on Staten Island.
Among the promoted members was Firefighter Mark Dziemian, of Engine 217, who was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Lieutenant Dziemian has been hospitalized since going into cardiac arrest while operating at a 2-alarm fire in Brooklyn in March.

The FDNY and the FDNY Foundation celebrated the 23rd class of the FDNY Officers Management Institute (FOMI) during a graduation ceremony Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in the Commissioner Robert O. Lowery Auditorium at FDNY Headquarters in Brooklyn.
