Racial Justice Charter Amendaments

The city is committed to implementing the racial justice charter amendments thoughtfully and in the spirit of what New Yorkers voted for. Over the past year, the NYC Mayor's Office for Equity and Racial Justice (MOERJ) has been spearheading a whole-of-government effort to design and implement our city's first-ever NYC Citywide Racial Equity Plan while working to advance the NYC True Cost of Living (TCOL). Our administration has been engaged at all levels of government, with agencies forming racial equity planning teams, participating in full-day training workshops, and working closely with MOERJ to develop and finalize their racial equity plans. Below is a timeline that reflects months of deliberate and purposeful work implementing a process the city has created and engaged in for the first time across government. It has also been adjusted to ensure the city delivers a strong, transformative, and sustainable NYC Citywide Racial Equity Plan and TCOL for New Yorkers.
