NEW YORK — New York City Emergency Management (NYCEM) today announced the launch of Notify NYC’s opt-in SMS short codes for the 4th of July, which enable New Yorkers and visitors to receive real-time notifications with information on major events planned for Independence Day weekend.
“New York City is gearing up for America’s 250th Independence Day, which will bring us Sail250 in addition to the annually anticipated 4th of July fireworks,” said NYCEM Commissioner Christina Farrell. “If you plan to partake in these festivities, we encourage both New Yorkers and visitors to sign up for emergency alerts to stay updated and ahead of any potential changes. Staying informed is an easy way to ensure you can move about these events both safely and smoothly.”
Macy's 4th of July Fireworks will span the lower East River in the Seaport District, the lower Hudson River in collaboration with Jersey City, and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. New York City and New Jersey will also host Sail4th 250 on July 3 and 4, featuring a Parade of Sail on July 3 and a Parade of Tall Ships on July 4.
New Yorkers and visitors can text the keyword JULY4NYC or JULY4NYCESP to 692-692 (NYCNYC) to receive alerts and event updates in English and Spanish. Message and data rates may apply.
