NEW YORK — NYC Emergency Management is once again making it easier for New Yorkers and visitors to “get notified” about 2025’s New Year's Eve in Times Square on December 31 and the 2026 NYC Mayoral Inauguration on January 1, 2026. Notify NYC, the City’s official emergency communications program, has relaunched an opt-in short message service (SMS) for those attending these festivities in New York City.

New Yorkers and visitors can text the keyword NEWYEARSEVE or NOCHEVIEJA to 692692 (NYCNYC) to receive alerts and updates on weather, road closures, traffic delays and more in English and/or Spanish for important New Years Eve updates. New Yorkers and visitors can text NYCMAYOR, NYCMAYORESP, or NYCMAYORFRE to 692692 for similar important updates on the mayoral inauguration in English, Spanish, and French. Message and data rates may apply.

“This week brings major, back-to-back events in New York City that will draw large crowds and millions of visitors into our streets and public spaces,” said NYCEM Commissioner Zach Iscol. “While NYCEM works closely with our federal, state, and local partners to ensure we’re prepared for the scale of these events, it is also important for New Yorkers and visitors alike to be prepared. Knowing is half the battle, and that starts with signing up for these Notify NYC SMS alerts to receive real-time updates that help people navigate crowds, plan their travel, and stay safe.”
