NYC EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT RELEASES ANNUAL REPORT

Report provides snapshot of the agency’s accomplishments from January 2022 through December 2022

February 7, 2023 — The New York City Emergency Management Department today released its annual report that highlights the agency’s accomplishments from January 2022 through December 2022. The report presents a snapshot of the agency’s role in leading the coordination of the City’s response to numerous incidents while supporting its mission to help New Yorkers prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies.

“I am extremely proud of the work New York City Emergency Management has done on behalf of New Yorkers during the first year of Mayor Adams’ administration,” said NYC Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol. “Whether an extreme weather emergency, a five-alarm fire, gas explosions, or an immigration crisis, NYC Emergency Management’s team members have proven they are committed to helping New Yorkers before, during and after emergencies.”

NYC Emergency Management has led the coordination of the City’s response to multiple emergencies. From a five-alarm fire in the Bronx, to an active shooter, assisting Puerto Rico after Hurricane Fiona,  to record breaking heat during the summer months, the agency has faced these challenges head-on, while adapting to the challenges of each emergency and implementing lessons learned from prior responses. The Annual Report is aligned with NYC Emergency Management’s Strategic Plan for the first time, highlighting the impressive progress the agency has made over the last year towards achieving the goals set forth in the plan.
