New York City Youth Board / Youth Committee

Audio Description: The NYC Youth Board /NYC Workforce Development Board Youth Committee held its quarterly membership meeting highlighting various city-wide and Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) initiatives. They included presentations from the Office of Neighborhood Safety (ONS) empowers New Yorkers and works with them to pursue community-driven solutions to public safety. Summer Rising is a free, safe, and fun academic and enrichment program for NYC students in grades K-8. DYCD's Summer Youth Employment Program is celebrating its 60th anniversary, with New York City once again slated to provide a record 110,000 summer job opportunities for young people ages 14-24 and DYCD"s Agency Chief Contracting Office, which highlighted the City of New York's Request-For-Proposal (RFP) funding process.

The New York City Youth Board advises DYCD on the development of youth programs. The board is comprised of leaders from business, academia, government, foundations, and the non-profit sector.

New York City Workforce Development Board Youth Committee

DYCD administers federally funded youth workforce development programs under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Under WIOA, the NYC Workforce Development Board can convene a Youth Committee to support the provision of WIOA youth services. The Committee helps to strengthen the capacity of workforce development programs to provide high-quality services aligned with employer needs.

The Youth Board and Youth Committee meet jointly on a quarterly basis.
