Audio Description:Since the launch of the Summer Youth Employment Program, Ladders for Leaders, and Work, Learn & Grow initiatives, DYCD has been a national model in employment opportunities and career training for young people. Within Workforce Connect, three other initiatives have been part of this continuum of services.
Formerly the Out-of-School Youth Program, Train and Earn is a short-term career pathway program for low-income young people who are not in working and are not in school. Benefits include job training, assistance with college admission, and help finding a permanent job. The former In-School-Youth Program is now Learn & Earn, a year-round program for low-income 11th and 12th graders at risk of dropping out of school. Learn and Earn helps young people become leaders and prepares them for college and the workplace. The Young Adult Internship Program is now Intern & Earn, a 14-week paid internship program that provides everything from employment and education services to financial literacy and healthy living workshops.

This is a nationally recognized internship program providing high achieving students with paid, professional internship opportunities with leading corporations, government agencies and non-profit organizations.
NYC Ladders for Leaders helps introduce high-achieving and motivated young people to the world of work, while also providing the tools and skills they need to become successful young professionals. In addition to valuable work experiences, Ladders participants receive work readiness training and take part in workshops on topics such as leadership and career/industry exploration.
