New York's Strongest Collected More Than 75,000 Pounds of Confetti and Litter After Last Week's Parade

June 23, 2026

As the last parade contingent marched up the Canyon of Heroes last Thursday, New York's Strongest immediately began cleaning confetti, streamers and litter left behind. By the end of Friday, when all the material was picked up, hauled into collection trucks and weighed, the total measured 75,260 pounds, the largest amount collected following a ticker-tape parade in recent memory.

For comparison, the following are amounts of material collected after the previous four ticker-tape parades:

  • October 2024, NY Liberty, 40,460 pounds
  • July 2021, Hometown Heroes, 21,460 pounds
  • July 2019, Women's World Cup, 52,740 pounds
  • July 2015, Women's World Cup, 59,280 pounds

"Just as OG tipped the winning basket at Game 4, New York's Strongest tipped winning litter baskets into collection trucks all night Thursday into Friday, and our truck scales affirm what a massive party this was for the championship Knicks,” said DSNY Commissioner Gregory Anderson. "As always, DSNY was proud to be a part of the celebration, and proud to clean the streets of Lower Manhattan afterward."

Roughly 650 Sanitation Workers — assisted by 70 officers — picked up this material on Broadway and surrounding streets. Most of these men and women worked during the morning and early afternoon Thursday to ensure streets and sidewalks were clean and ready to reopen soon after the parade ended. Knowing celebrations would continue after the parade, the Department also maintained extra staffing on Thursday evening, Friday, and into the weekend.
