No Trash, Curbside Composting, or Recycling Collection on Juneteenth, Thursday June 19, 2025

The New York City Department of Sanitation announced that there would be no trash, Curbside Composting, or recycling collection on Juneteenth, Thursday, June 19, 2025.

• Residents who normally receive Thursday trash or Curbside Composting collection should place their material at the curb Thursday evening for collection beginning Friday, June 20.
• Residents who normally receive Thursday recycling collection should hold their paper, metal, glass, plastic, and carton recycling for a week, and place their material at the curb Wednesday, June 25, for collection Thursday, June 26.

NOTE: All residents should understand collection delays may occur after a holiday. We appreciate patience as we work to collect the backlog of material.

The Department of Sanitation (DSNY) keeps New York City clean, safe, and healthy by collecting, recycling, and disposing of waste, cleaning streets, attacking the scourge of illegal dumping, and clearing snow and ice. The Department operates 59 district garages and manages a fleet of more than 2,000 rear-loading collection trucks, 450 mechanical brooms, 705 salt spreaders, and several dozen bike lane operations machines.
