As a first step toward achieving the ambitious goal to recognize all of the unsung women whose work has shaped the public realm of New York City, the Public Design Commission created Women-Designed NYC, a publication that focuses on women-led projects awarded by the Public Design Commission over the past ten years.
The publication has been adapted to an exhibition format, and will be on view to the public through December 5th. Projects on display include a wide variety of project typologies representing a cross-section of the built environment - from parks and streetscapes to artworks, cultural facilities, and infrastructure. It also includes a timeline of the women members of the Public Design Commission.
Opening Remarks:
Keri Butler, Deputy Executive Director, NYC Public Design Commission
Rebecca Macklis, Senior Urban Design Manager, NYC Public Design Commission
A reception with wine and light fare will follow the remarks.
Gallery Hours:
Monday – Friday, 8am-2am
Saturday & Sunday, 10am-2am
This exhibition was made possible by the Associates of the Art Commission and the Barnard and Columbia College Architecture Department.
