Mércia is a Design Fellow at the Public Design Commission. At PDC, she assists senior staff with capital project reviews and special initiatives, supporting the agency's mission for excellence and innovation in public design. She produces graphic and written deliverables for public design initiatives, advancing the agency's commitment to excellence in the public realm. With expertise in user experience, interaction design, and digital prototyping, Mércia explores how technology and participatory design can enhance civic engagement. She has developed and managed digital products and community engagement initiatives in both Brazil and the United States. She is currently pursuing her Master of Fine Arts in Transdisciplinary Design at Parsons The New School and holds a Bachelor of Design from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. As a Research Assistant at both the Brota's Program and Dreamcatcher's Project in Brazil, she led transformative design initiatives focused on educational engagement and socioeconomic development. Her work included facilitating co-design workshops for at risk youth and waste collectors, developing comprehensive branding systems, and implementing digital platforms to strengthen community connections.
