All NYC properties with water service lines must also have a water meter attached that is properly functioning. Water meters measure how much water is used at your property and they are owned and maintained by DEP:

  • To have DEP install a new water meter or replace or repair a water meter at your property, please contact Customer Service.

Reimbursement for Water Meter Installation or Replacement

Some property owners may opt to use their own NYC licensed master plumbers to install or replace their water meters. If a licensed master plumber installs a new water meter or replaces a water meter at your property, you maybe eligible for reimbursement.
