Ground Breaking: 121st Police Precinct Station Housery

Commissioner Burney joined Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Kelly to break ground on the new 121st Police Precinct Station House in the Graniteville section of Staten Island. This is the first new precinct on Staten Island in decades and will be the first police facility in New York City to comply with PlaNYC requirements for sustainable design. The building includes reception areas, administrative space, a detectives’ bureau, personnel areas, equipment storage, a muster room and prisoner holding. To meet the need for both public and non-public spaces, the design consists of two distinct masses that respond to the irregular site and are distinguished by differing heights and surface treatments.  

"The precinct headquarters will allow the NYPD to do an even better job of protecting our fastest-growing borough," said Mayor Bloomberg.

Since 2002, DDC has completed 18 renovation, modernization, and new construction projects for the NYPD, valued at $134.7 million. Currently, including the 121st Precinct, DDC has seven NYPD projects in progress with a total construction value of $750 million.

"This project provides New York’s Finest with a state of the art, high-performance facility that meets the growing needs of 21st Century policing," said Commissioner Burney.
