Requests for Records Pursuant to the Freedom of Information Law (FOIL)

Requests for Records (“FOIL requests”) may be submitted to DCAS for copies of agency records. Questions or comments about exams, personnel issues, or other agency operations should be submitted to the appropriate DCAS office.

FOIL requests must be in writing and can be submitted by mail or email to the Records Access Officer:

Records Access Officer

Department of Citywide Administrative Services
Office of General Counsel
1 Centre Street, 19th Floor North
New York, NY 10007
foilrequest@dcas.nyc.gov

In submitting a FOIL request, please include specific identifying information about the records being sought, such as the type of records, the time period of the records, the subject matter, and the bid number (if applicable). This will allow the Records Access Officer to more easily locate the records that you’re seeking.

Please also include your full name and contact information, including your address, daytime phone number and email address.

Before submitting a FOIL request, you may wish to check the DCAS website for online records, such as recent bid tabulations, recent contract awards, or the list of upcoming exams. In addition, NYC Open Data includes numerous DCAS datasets, such as active eligible lists for Civil Service examinations.

Certain fees may be assessed for records produced in response to a FOIL request. There is a fee of $0.25 per page for paper records, and additional fees may apply for records supplied on a USB drive or for the preparation of electronic records.
