The committees have been organized into work groups to enable collaboration on district issues and projects. This structure reflects the committees' interconnected purposes. It is designed to ensure the greatest possible community benefits through the work of the thirteen (13) committees. Your participation in these work groups is essential and impactful. It helps increase awareness and involvement among board members and community residents in the committees' work and directly contributes to the betterment of our community.

Economic Development
- Chair: Vacant
- Meets: 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
- Purpose: Work closely with the District Manager and Chairperson of the Board to identify and respond to issues related to existing or proposed economic opportunities for the district and make recommendations to the Board regarding the same.
Education and Youth Services Planning
- Chair: Ms. Karlena James
- Meets: 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
- Purpose: Work closely with the District Manager and Chairperson of the Board to identify and respond to youth-related issues such as education, recreation, substance abuse, teenage pregnancy, and employment, and make recommendations to the Board regarding the same.
Environmental and Sanitation
- Chair: Ms. Sabrina Massey
- Meets: 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
- Purpose: Work closely with the District Manager and Chairperson of the Board to identify and respond to any issues relating to the environment, such as clean air, noise pollution, safe and adequate water supply, as well as the appropriate manner for the collection and disposal of garbage for the District, and make recommendations to the Board regarding the same.
Health and Human Services
- Chair: Rev. Dr. Miran Ukaegbu
- Meets: 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
- Purpose: Work closely with the District Manager and Chairperson of the Board to identify and respond to issues and concerns related to the general health and welfare of the residents of the District, and make recommendations to the Board regarding the same.
Land Use, Planning, and Zoning

Meets: 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.

Purpose: Work closely with the District Manager and Chairperson of the Board to review/entertain all land use matters related to zoning and existing or proposed usage of property in the District and make recommendations to the Board regarding the same.
Legislative
- Chair: Ms. Annalisa J. Purdie
- Meets: 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
- Purpose: Work closely with the District Manager and Chairperson of the Board to review legislation that will have an effect on the District and make recommendations to the Board regarding the same.
NYCHA
- Chair: Mr. Uriel Griffin
- Meets: 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
- Purpose: Work closely with the District Manager and Chairperson of the Board to advocate and achieve the most significant outcomes for the public housing residents of the District and make recommendations to the Board regarding the same.

Parks and Recreation
- Chair: Ms. Deborah Williams
- Meets: 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
- Purpose: Works closely with the District Manager and Chairperson of the Board to ensure that the recreational needs of the District are identified and met, and makes recommendations to the Board regarding the same.
Personnel, Budget, and Finance
- Chair: Ms. JoAnn Sexton
- Meets: 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
- Purpose: Work closely with the District Manager and Chairperson on personnel matters relating to the Board regarding staff and make recommendations to the Board regarding the Capital and Expense Budget needs of the District as it relates to the Citywide Budget.
Public Safety
- Chair: Ms. Malika Parker
- Meets: 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
- Purpose: Work closely with the District Manager and Chairperson of the Board to review and entertain comments regarding policies and procedures relating to the public’s safety regarding the Police and Fire Department, and make recommendations to the Board regarding the same.
Senior Citizen Affairs
- Chair: Ms. Patricia Winston
- Meets: 3rd Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m.
- Purpose: Work closely with the District Manager and Chairperson of the Board to identify and respond to concerns relating to the needs, benefits, and resources for seniors, and make recommendations to the Board regarding the same.
Transportation and Franchises
- Chair: Ms. Niani Taylor
- Meets: 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
- Purpose: Work closely with the District Manager and Chairperson of the Board to address any concerns relating to established and/or proposed franchises for the District and identify and respond to the District's needs/resources relating to transportation issues such as mass transit, traffic lights, street lights, and condition of roadways and sidewalks, and make recommendations to the Board regarding the same.
Veterans' Affairs
- Chair: Dr. Cleopatra Brown
- Meets: 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
- Purpose: Work closely with the District Manager and Chairperson of the Board to advocate and achieve the most significant outcomes for veteran residents of the District and make recommendations to the Board regarding the same.
Women's
- Chair: Ms. Joan Johnson
- Meets: 2nd Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
- Purpose: Work closely with the District Manager and Chairperson of the Board to identify and respond to issues relating to the needs/available resources for the female population of the District and make recommendations to the Board regarding the same.
