Abdus Shahid’s Biography

Born in Bangladesh, Abdus Shahid migrated to New York following graduation from high school at age 17, enrolling in Hunter College the following year.

Since 1983, he has proudly served the Bangladeshi community, helping found the Parkchester Jame Masjid in 1987, serving as Treasurer for ten years and currently as Senior Vice President since 2004.

Abdus was first appointed to Community Board 11 in 2025 by Borough President Gibson as a Council Member Marmorato nominee. He is the proud husband of Ambia and father of four successful children, Shahiba, Sufian, Shabiha and Safwan.
