Marek is a former high school math and physics teacher and has been providing actuarial consulting to public sector plans since 1989. Marek served on the board of directors of a national actuarial services firm and led the national public sector business for two multi-national firms. As a business leader, Marek managed a portfolio of software companies whose services included tracking unclaimed property for states, disease surveillance and outbreak management for public health departments, and public sector pension administration software.

Marek also managed the development of actuarial software and pension administration systems for public sector retirement plans. His skill set includes coding in FORTRAN, VBA, and PL/SQL and developing relational databases for actuarial valuations and data checking.

Marek has a degree in Mathematics from Michigan State University and is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He is the son of Polish immigrants, survivors of Soviet gulags, who came to this country to live the American Dream.
