ACS Honors Adoptive Families at National Adoption Month Reception

ACS celebrated National Adoption Month 2013 with a reception at the Old Emigrant Savings Bank Building at 49-51 Chambers Street in Manhattan on November 14. The event, which was hosted by Commissioner Ronald E. Richter and Deputy Commissioner Benita Miller, Division of Family Permanency Services, honored exceptional foster and adoptive parents.

In his address, Commissioner Richter thanked caseworkers, foster parents, adoptive parents, adoption clerks, attorneys, and judges for their individual contributions to the adoption process. “With the help and commitment of all of you who have joined us tonight, ACS continues to make steps toward our goal of achieving timely adoptions for thousands of children in New York City’s foster care system.” NYC Councilmember and Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer gave the keynote address.

Honored at the awards were adoptive parents Franklin and Ana Myrick, and Dr. Grace Zarate, an advocate for foster and adoptive parents. Christopher Lynn-Logue, a former Wednesday’s Child and recent New York University graduate, along with Deputy Commissioner Miller presented the awards.
