First Time Making Modern Healthcare's List of "100 Most Influential People in Healthcare"
(New York, NY – August 26, 2014) New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) President Ram Raju, M.D., has been named one of Modern Healthcare's "100 Most Influential People in Healthcare" for 2014, placing #37 overall on the prestigious list. U.S. President Barack Obama leads the list this year, which includes numerous policy leaders, insurance executives and other CEOs of many of the country's largest healthcare systems.
"I'm honored to be among this impressive company of policy and business leaders whose vision and contributions to the industry are setting the stage for transforming health care in this country," said Dr. Raju.
An experienced vascular and trauma surgeon and former CEO of Chicago's Cook County Health & Hospitals System, Dr. Raju was appointed HHC President and CEO by Mayor Bill de Blasio in March 2014. Before running the Chicago public hospitals system, he served as HHC's Chief Medical Officer, Corporate Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, and as Chief Operating Officer and Medical Director at HHC's Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn.
This is the 13th annual list of the "100 Most Influential People in Healthcare." For the list, Modern Healthcare selected 300 finalists from more than 15,000 nominations submitted by readers. The final ranking of top 100 was determined by votes from readers and the publication's senior editors. This is Dr. Raju's first time on the top 100 list. Modern Healthcare has also recently named him one of the "Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare" and one of the "50 Most Influential Physician Executives in Healthcare."
