Statement of HHC President Alan D. Aviles Regarding Mayor de Blasio's Nomination of Dr. Ramanathan Raju as Next President of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation
Mayor de Blasio’s selection of Dr. Raju to serve as the next President of HHC reflects his progressive plan for the city and the acknowledgement that healthcare is a fundamental priority. Ram Raju is a transformational physician and an executive who has a unique combination of strategic, operational, and clinical experience and a strong and dynamic vision of how to advance organizational excellence. The arrival of Dr. Raju will enable HHC to both solidify its recent accomplishments and to forge a bold path into the future.
I am profoundly grateful to everyone I have encountered on my extraordinary journey at HHC for the past 17 years. It has been the opportunity of a lifetime, and it has been thrilling to witness every day how HHC has made a difference in the lives and health of generations of New Yorkers.
I have great admiration and respect for Dr. Raju, and I wish him the same deeply rewarding experience that I have had.
