Vito Capezza

Vito Capezza, Shop Steward

How would you describe your job to a 5th grader?

Hazardous.  A very hard environment to work in, but satisfying knowing we are protecting it for our families, and yours, and our future generations.

What is the most interesting part of your job?

All the interesting people I’ve met along the way. Some are still here, some are not, but they are always in my thoughts.  Also the technology that changes day to day is amazing.

What is your schedule like?

Rotating shifts.  It is busy and hectic.  Time goes by so quick.

What is it like to work at the largest wastewater treatment plant?

Exciting. Stressful. Demanding. Fulfilling.

Has anything exciting happened to you on the job?

Yes.  When the city gave us the local 1320 our much deserved pay increase after eight years.  It made me feel good to see the men smile again.

What is the most important aspect of your job?

To ensure a healthy and safe environment for the public.

How long have you worked at the plant?

20 years.
