Mission Statement

The NYC Department of Probation Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) is charged with implementing the City’s Equal Employment Opportunity policies and standards across our citywide locations and works to prevent discrimination through training, outreach, education, and community building efforts. The Office of the EEO is dedicated to ensuring an anti-discrimination, anti-harassment and anti-retaliation workplace for all employees in accordance with NYC EEO Policy, as well as federal, state and local laws. Creating a diverse and inclusive community is essential to serving New Yorkers across our city.

The Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) is an independent and neutral office that investigates allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation filed by employees, applicants, contractual staff, interns paid or unpaid and members of the public based on protected categories covered by federal, state, and local laws. The Office also reviews requests for reasonable accommodation based on:

  • Disability
  • Religious observance
  • Pregnancy or related medical condition (including lactation)
  • Status as a victim of domestic violence, sexual violence, or stalking

Goal of the Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)

The Office of the Equal Employment Opportunity works to ensure the implementation of fair and equitable employment practices within the agency, while fostering a workplace that is free from discrimination and harassment.
