New York City Water Board: Request for Proposals for Risk and Insurance Consultant

The New York City Water Board (the “Board”) is a public benefit corporation whose primary duty is to establish and collect water and sewer rates and charges in an amount sufficient to place the Water and Sewer System (the “System”) of the City of New York (the “City”) on a self-sustaining basis.  The System is operated and maintained by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (“DEP”).

In the course of operating and maintaining the System, DEP enters into a large number of contracts with private entities, and DEP is the largest City construction agency, awarding more than $1 billion annually in contracts for construction, construction-related services and engineering services.  DEP generally requires each of its contractors to purchase a wide array of insurance policies, in addition to requiring payment and performance bonds for many types of contracts.  The Board is issuing a Request for Proposals (“RFP”) to solicit proposals from qualified vendors to provide broad-based risk and insurance consulting services to the Board and DEP regarding the insurable risks encountered in many or most DEP projects involving private contractors.

All qualified vendors are invited to respond to the RFP.  The RFP package may be obtained from the following link:

The deadline for submission of proposals is 11:00 A.M. (EDT), May 11, 2011.
