Production Design Masterclass with Michael Shaw on Orange is the New Black

Production Design sets the stage, building the unique world of a film or show. It can be easy to admire the art direction of epic period pieces and soaring sci-fi, but what of the details of everyday life? Michael Shaw, Production Designer for Netflix's hit Orange is the New Black, has done work camouflaged by skill – you mean it’s not shot in a prison, but on a soundstage in Queens? Shaw will show a favorite episode from this season and discuss his inspiration for this and his other work. He will elucidate how the art department’s many facets – sets, costuming, special effects – work in tandem with the vision of the director, cinematographer, and writer to create a fully immersed world for us. A coffee reception will follow the event, taking place on Saturday, July 25, 1-4:30pm. For more, visit http://bit.ly/1ejkq1K. Use Code ArtDeptMOME for a $20 discount for friends of MOME.
