A champion for workers’ rights, Damon has advocated for a worker centered trade policy and protections for SAG-AFTRA members in a fast changing technological landscape and increasingly globalized creative industry. Damon’s leadership includes advancing smart guardrails around AI as well as strengthening New York’s right of publicity and digital image rights for the benefit of all members.

“As today’s creative workforce faces unprecedented challenges and changing technologies, Rebecca Damon is a leader in the work to provide necessary protections, making her the perfect choice as the “Made in NY” honoree at the NYWIFT Muse Awards,” said Commissioner of the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment Rafael Espinal. "In this new era, where the City of New York puts the needs of our creative workforce front and center, we are thrilled to highlight Rebecca’s work during her tenure at SAG-AFTRA to implement protections against AI, and bring about worker centered trade policy. Congratulations Rebecca!”

“This award means so much to me because I love this city and the countless union members of the film and television industry who live and work here. This honor is personally meaningful to me because it shows how much this city and its leaders value the film and television industry, and the hardworking people who rely on the good union jobs the industry brings to the Big Apple. New York has recognized the immense impact our economy receives from local film and television production. I look forward to continuing to work with the Mayor’s Office in supporting production in New York City.” - Rebecca Damon, Chief Labor Policy Officer and New York Executive Director, SAG-AFTRA
