The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment Congratulates our "Made in NY" 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards Winners

NYC film and television productions take home 5 statues, from a total of 15 nominations; Robert De Niro receives the 56th annual Life Achievement Award

 

NEW YORK, January 20, 2020 – The NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment congratulates the "Made in NY" winners at the 26th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which took place last night in Los Angeles. NYC film and television productions won 5 SAG Awards, from a total of 15 nominations (7 feature film nominations, and 8 episodic or limited series nominations).

Among this year's "Made in NY" winners were outstanding performances in "Fosse/Verdon" and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," which both took home two trophies, as well as "Joker," which took home one.

And NYC icon Robert De Niro received the 56th annual SAG Life Achievement Award for career and humanitarian accomplishments, including his work as actor, director, producer and as co-founder of NYC's famed Tribeca Film Festival.

"We congratulate New York City's native son Robert De Niro on his lifetime achievement award and all the winners and nominees honored last night," said NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment Commissioner Anne del Castillo. "The Screen Actors Guild recognition of outstanding performances in 'Made in NY' productions is a testament to the rich talent pool and robust infrastructure supporting New York City's television and film industry."

  • Joaquin Phoenix - Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role ("Joker")
  • Sam Rockwell - Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries ("Fosse/Verdon")
