International Affairs Team

Carolina Nazzaro is the Director of Protocol at the NYC Mayor’s Office for International Affairs. She manages diplomatic and international engagements and visits with precision and adherence to international protocol standards. Carolina also designs and implements protocol strategies for events and other official engagements, including ceremonies. She also advises leadership and staff on international customs and protocol. She also oversees the Western Hemisphere Permanent Missions to the United Nations and United Nations headquarters relationships. She also supports strategic communications and engagement efforts related to the Commissioner and the Office.

Before assuming her current role, she held several key positions at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Her roles included serving several Presidents of the General Assembly in different capacities such as Media Relations, Communications Adviser, Protocol, Special Assistant, she also served at the Media Accreditation Unit (MALU) where she managed media access to the Secretary General and other high-level UN officials with Diplomats.

Besides her work at the United Nations, Ms. Nazzaro has been a Communications and Public Relations Consultant for a global NGO focused on supporting refugees and communities affected by conflict. Carolina is also an accomplished journalist with experience across television and radio. She has worked as a news anchor and general assignment reporter, covering a wide range of topics including politics, business, education, and entertainment.

Ms. Nazzaro holds a degree in Social Communications with a specialization in Marketing and Advertising. She has also studied Global Diplomacy in the Modern World, International Women’s Health and Human Rights, and International Migration and Global Issues.

A lover of New York City, she enjoys the great cultural diversity of the Big Apple. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
