When Can I Renew My Card?
You may renew your card up to 90 days before it expires, and up to 1 year after it expires. If your card expired more than 1 year ago, you will need to apply for a new IDNYC card at an IDNYC Enrollment Center.
Due to reduced capacities at IDNYC Enrollment Centers during COVID-19 and pursuant to 68 RCNY Sec 6-10(b), the IDNYC Program has expanded the renewal period for all cardholders whose cards expired in 2020. If your card expired in 2020 or 2021, you may renew your card through December 31, 2023. After this date, you will not be able to renew your card and will need to submit a new application at an Enrollment Center.
Do not delay submitting your renewal application online. You can renew your card today at nyc.gov/idnyc.
How Can I Renew My Card?
You can renew your card either online or in person at an Enrollment Center. To renew online, visit the Online Portal and follow the instructions to begin your application. To renew in person, visit an Enrollment Center. You can make an appointment online or by calling 311.
Can I Change My Card Information Online?
You will be able to update most information on your card when renewing online, including your address and gender designation. For change of address, cardholders may be asked to upload and submit scanned residency documents. If you need to change your name, height, or eye color, you may start your renewal on the Online Portal, but must complete your renewal in-person at an Enrollment Center.
