Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure - Waterfront Alliance - WEDG

The East Side Coastal Resiliency (ESCR) project represents a critical milestone towards implementation of the City's resiliency and sustainability goals. The project receives Envision Gold Award from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) and Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines (WEDG) Verification from Waterfront Alliance. Please read the DDC Press Release here:

Envision

The Envision rating system is a national standard for assessing sustainability on infrastructure projects developed and overseen by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). The Envision categories of Quality of Life, Leadership, Resource Allocation, Natural World, and Climate and Resilience collectively address areas of human wellbeing, mobility, community development, collaboration, planning, economy, materials, energy, water, siting, conservation, ecology, emissions, and resilience.

Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines (WEDG)

The Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines (WEDG) is a voluntary rating system and set of guidelines developed by the Waterfront Alliance to enhance waterfront design. Projects are rated against a set of guidelines and credit system developed through a collaboration between government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, technical experts, and other waterfront stakeholders. WEDG seeks to enhance waterfront design by focusing on how projects enhance resilience, ecology and access to the waterfront.

LEED

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is the most widely-used building rating system, based on guidelines set forth by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings, and certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement and leadership.

DDC will pursue LEED Building Design & Construction (BD+C) certification in the categories of Location and Transportation, and Materials and Resources for ESCR.
