Andrew Sein is DOI's Acting Deputy Commissioner for Legal Affairs & General Counsel and an Inspector General for Squad 5. Mr. Sein has served as an inspector general for over a decade, overseeing and conducting a wide variety of investigations into corruption, fraud, waste, mismanagement, conflicts of interest, and other misconduct in New York City government. As inspector general, he is responsible for oversight of City agencies including the Mayor’s Office, the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings, the Department of Youth and Community Development, and the Department for the Aging. He has led or participated in numerous investigations that have resulted in criminal prosecutions, public reports, or significant administrative referrals to City agencies.
Prior to joining DOI, Mr. Sein worked in the litigation department of a major international law firm. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sandra J. Feuerstein of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.A. from Binghamton University.
