NYC DOC’s Take Your Children to Work Day returned this year bigger, better and bolder than ever before.
With leadership from Commissioner Lynelle Maginley-Liddie, our young visitors kicked off their day of fun and learning by getting sworn-in as Junior Correction Officers.
“I don’t need to tell you, but everyone who works here is a hero. This is one of the most challenging jobs in law enforcement. As a member of the New York City Department of Correction, you, like your loved ones, will be Guardians and protectors,” the Commissioner said. “This is a proud and honorable career and your parents do this work every single day to help save lives and change lives for the better. That’s what it means to be The Boldest.”
This year’s programming included the kids visiting interactive learning stations with Officers from our elite Emergency Service, K-9, Fire Safety and Communications units. In addition, the next generation of emergency responders toured the George Motchan Detention Center (GMDC) to get a closer look at how their parents protect and serve inside of New York City’s jails.
Even more special is the youngsters were able to spend quality time with their parents during carnival games, sports and many other activities that provided The Boldest Family experience.
Great job to all of the kids for training with New York City’s Boldest on April 24. We look forward to seeing each of you join our ranks.
