Unless otherwise noted, Public Design Commission final approval (preliminary in the case of artwork installation, relocation, or conservation) is conditioned upon commencement of work within two years of the date of that approval. Should the approval expire before construction/fabrication begins, a formal request for an extension must be submitted by the agency. No more than three consecutive requests for two-year extensions (for a total of eight years from the original approval date) will be considered.
The Commission reserves the right to request design changes once an approval has expired. All requests for extensions must be submitted on a standard submission deadline and include all of the materials noted below. Agencies must allow sufficient time for review and approval of requests for extensions.
The checklist should be used to ensure that submissions are complete and included with submission packages.
