DDC Early Career Development Program

The Department of Design and Construction Early Career Development Program consists of tours, presentations, trainings, and workshops geared towards recently hired professionals to ensure continued professional growth, education, and collaboration. The program also aims to promote cross functional knowledge and collaboration to improve relationships with peers and understanding of overall DDC program goals.

On September 20th, 2017, Early Career Development participants met with Deputy Commissioner Tom Foley from Public Buildings. During the session, DC Foley spoke about the importance of getting their professional licenses, and attending scheduled study sessions at DDC for employees interested in attaining licenses either as registered architects or engineers. He also gave an overview of the Benchmark program for project managers. Benchmark is a new tracking tool that provides updates on construction projects to elected officials and other community stake holders. It also helps to keep information organized and relevant.  He also stressed that it is important for project manager to ensure updates are inputted into the Benchmark system.

Louann Koziol, Executive Director from Budget and Finance explained the differences between DDC’s expense and capital budgets.
