Borough Assembly Committees

In the second phase of "The People's Money" ideas are evaluated by committees made of randomly selected New Yorkers to represent their boroughs called, Borough Assembly Committees. These committees meet through January and February to discuss the ideas submitted and develop the top ideas into projects for the borough ballots.

We welcome all New Yorkers interested in being a part of this process to submit their application. Selection will be done after the Idea Generation Sessions held in October and November 2024. Applications are randomly selected and incorporate borough demographics to ensure diversity amongst the committee aligns with the borough's population.

Borough Assembly Committee members will be responsible for:

  • Attending meetings throughout January and February 2025 as organized by the CEC.
  • Review project ideas submitted in the Idea Generation Workshops and online.
  • Work with other borough residents to evaluate those ideas based on criteria provided.
  • Prioritize project ideas and discuss how they would benefit communities.
  • Consider information the CEC provides on feasibility, need, costs, and impact from community needs assessments and subject matter experts including city staff and organizations.
