Jorwell Perez is the Director of Public Affairs for the New York City Civic Engagement Commission (CEC), where he drives innovative digital outreach and communication strategies to expand civic participation and promote digital equity. Born and raised in the Bronx, he launched his career as a grassroots community organizer in Highbridge. He later served as Director of Communications at The New York Foundling before transitioning to work in government. Here at the CEC, Jorwell spearheads the strategy of various citywide campaigns like The People's Money and Voter Language Assistance Program, leveraging strategic communication, community-driven storytelling and creative partnerships to build a more inclusive, transparent, and civically engaged New York City.
Jorwell holds a B.A in Political Science and B.S in Human Development from Binghamton University, and an M.A in Public Media and Strategic Communications from Fordham University. He was previously a fellow in the NYU FELPS program and currently resides in Harlem.
