Records Requests

Please review the following list. If you are requesting information not covered in any of the categories listed blow, your request may necessitate a formal request pursuant to the New York State Freedom of Information Law ("FOIL").

Property Status

To obtain information about whether a certain property is subject to Board jurisdiction or action (i.e. has received a special permit, variance or been the subject of an appeal), use our search tools located under the Applications tab. For applications prior to 1998, go to Search for Applications prior to 1998. For applications filed 1998 to present, you can Search for Resolutions or look at our interactive Applications Map. You may also contact the Board Office at 212-386-0009 with the address and/or borough, block, and lot.

Archived Case Files

Case files for BZ, Appeal, and BZY applications are archived and sent off-site. To obtain copies of archived case files, please fill out the Archive Request Form.

The Archive Request Form is only to order a case file, not to do a property search. If you do not know the calendar number, please see Property Status above.

Note: A $50.00 fee is required to request each off-site case file, via check or money order payable to "The New York City Board of Standards and Appeals".

Archived case files can typically be made available for review at the Board's office, located at 22 Reade Street, 1st Floor, within 3 to 7 business days. Copies are available at a cost of twenty-five ($.25) cents a page.

Resolutions

For BSA resolutions on applications filed since January 1, 1998 to the present, go to the Search for Resolutions page. This search tool includes resolutions on new applications and also on amendments/extensions to earlier decisions. If you cannot find the resolution you are looking for, or would like to request a hard copy of a resolution, please contact the Board office at 212-386-0009.

FOIL Requests

If your request is not addressed in any of the items listed above, you may need to make a FOIL request. Visit the FOIL Requests tab on the left of this page.
