Purpose: The By-Laws Committee meets to discuss changes to the Board's By-Laws (our constitution), which mandates the structure of the Board and its meetings. The Committee places amendments to the By-Laws before the Board for a vote and keeps the Board Members aware of the amendments being proposed.
Purpose: The Capital and Expense Budget Committee is responsible for voting on the Board's local budget priorities. The Committee's vote takes place after a Public Hearing which is typically held on the second Wednesday of October. Those priorities are then presented to the entire Board for a vote.
Purpose: The Economic Development/Waterfront Committee meets to discuss issues involving our industrial and commercial areas and ways in which we can improve the local economy and job base in the community and along the waterfront.
Purpose: The Education/Youth Committee meets to discuss issues on school policies, construction/repair of schools, examines issues affecting the youth of the community including recreation, education and employment programs.
Purpose: The Housing Committee meets to discuss home ownership and tenant/landlord issues, housing quality and affordability, services available to tenants and homeowners though governmental and community-based agencies.
Purpose: As defined in the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure pursuant to Section 197-c of the New York City Charter, the Land Use Committee meets to determine the Board's response to proposed changes to zoning and land use. The committee usually meets right after a public hearing and reports its findings at the next Board Meeting.
Purpose: The Membership and Attendance Committee meets right before our monthly Board Meetings and reviews the attendance of our Board Members, review the records of Board Members who leave the public meeting within an hour and hold formal hearings on the attendance of Board Members. The committee can make a recommendation to remove a Board Member to the entire Board.
Purpose: The Public Safety Committee meets to discuss local issues involving police, fire, emergency services and emergency preparedness (in case of natural disasters, terrorism, power outages etc.) and other quality of life concerns.
Purpose: The Sanitation/Environment Committee meets to discuss issues involving the Department of Sanitation, sewer and water issues and the numerous State and Federal environmental agencies. The committee also looks at sources of local pollution and sanitary problems.
Purpose: The Transportation Committee holds meetings on transportation infrastructure, traffic movement, truck routes, highway safety and pedestrian safety.

Purpose: The Ability and Access Committee seeks to identify and eliminate barriers for all people to access public services and infrastructure and to educate the public on these issues.
Ad Hoc Committee on Homelessness Issues

Purpose: This Committee seeks to keep the public informed about the city's policies on homelessness issues and their local impact.
Asian Affairs

Purpose: The Committee provides a forum for residents from the Asian community to address local issues.

Purpose: This Committee seeks to engage the community to ensure a complete count in the 2020 United States Census.
