District Manager
As of April 24, 2023, Karla Cabrera Carrera serves as the District Manager of Bronx Community Board 7 (CB7), which includes the neighborhoods of Bedford Park, Fordham, Jerome Park, Kingsbridge Heights, Mosholu Parkway, Norwood, and University Heights. Karla was Bronx Community Board 7’s Deputy District Manager since November 2021, and had acted as the District Manager since January 2023.
Karla is a mother, a Central American immigrant from Guatemala City, and a Bronxite who has over 11 years of experience working in city government.
At the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Karla promoted health equity and increased awareness of health disparities in The Bronx. Karla is a City of New York Alumni, who holds a Bachelor of Science from Lehman College, and a Master of Public Administration from Baruch College.
Additionally, by taking an active role in addressing community issues, Karla has obtained over 6 years of experience in grassroot community organizing. She is the Co-Founder of Friends of Tremont Park and Bronx Femme Run. She is also the Garden Manager of Garden of Happiness. Karla loves The Bronx and strives to make it a thriving borough for all Bronxites.
In her role as District Manager, Karla Cabrera Carrera will manage a small team and work in partnership with CB7 board members to increase community engagement efforts, amplify the voices of community residents, and improve the district’s overall quality of life.
