As a young child, Naomi Pemberton attended P.S. 111 and Harry S. Truman High School. In 1997, she received her baccalaureate from the State University of New York at Binghamton, majoring in Liberal Arts. In 2001, she received her Master of Public Administration from Long Island University.

Naomi has been in the healthcare industry for over 20 years, playing a key role in operations, contracting and revenue cycle. She has worked for large hospital systems and healthcare insurance companies as well as for not-for-profit organizations, which were dedicated to managing healthcare for children and the elderly.

Naomi cares about her community. In 2003, she worked as one of the event planners with the NAACP Williamsbridge Branch and State Assembly Member Carl Heastie’s Office on a back to school event at Naomi’s alma mater, Truman High School. The event addressed the dropout rate of students of color, encouraging them to stay in school. Prizes, food, music and keys of encouragement were provided to students, making for a great impact upon them. Education, Naomi feels, is the key to directing our youth in developing their own individual identity and improving economic development.

Naomi was born and raised in the Pelham Gardens section of Community Board 11. She is an Afro-Latina. Her parents are from Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. She still resides in Pelham Gardens with her husband and two children.

Naomi was appointed to Community Board 11 in 2020 as a Council Member King nominee.
