Cynthia Rodriguez's Biography

Cynthia Rodriguez was born in the Bronx and raised in Manhattan. After earning her Bachelor of Arts from Lehman College, she returned to the Bronx, living over twenty years in Community Board 8 until 2016, when she moved to Morris Park.

Cynthia spent six years in health education, focusing on HIV/AIDS, liver diseases, childbirth and women’s health in schools and community organizations throughout the city, before she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science from Columbia University. Since 2005, she has worked for NYC Health + Hospitals as a Certified Nurse Midwife, where she has had the honor of welcoming nearly 1,000 babies. While providing care for the families of our city, she has also served as a clinical instructor of OB/GYN for New York Medical College, mentoring student midwives, nurses and doctors in obstetrics.

Cynthia was first appointed to Community Board 11 in 2022. In 2024, she joined the Bronx 11 Neighborhood Advisory Board, and she became CB11's first elected Latina Chair. She is the proud daughter of U.S. Army veteran Angel Manuel Rodriguez, who received the Congressional Gold Medal in 2025 for his service in the 65th Infantry Regiment (aka "the Borinqueneers") during the Korean War.
