urbanSHED Unveiled in Lower Manhattan

Mayor Bloomberg and Commissioner
LiMandri unveiled the first prototype of
Urban Umbrella - the winner of
the urbanSHED International Design
Competition. This new design makes
it easier for pedestrians to navigate
the sidewalk while construction is
underway. Installed at 100
Broadway in Lower Manhattan, the
structure was designed and created by
Andrés Cortés R.A. and Sarrah Khan P.E.
of the design firm Agencie Group and
Young-Hwan Choi.
