Next Generation
of Sidewalk Sheds Unveiled
The Department recently unveiled the
prototype for the Urban
Umbrella - the winning design from
the urbanSHED International Design
Competition. This new
design beat 163 other submissions by architects,
engineers, designers and students from
around the world. Young-Hwan Choi, who
created the initial design, was
supported by Andres Cortes RA and Sarrah
Khan PE, both from the New York-based
design firm Agencie Group. The prototype
will soon be installed at a building in
Lower Manhattan.

Crackdown on Building
Violators
|
DOB teamed up with DOI, which arrested 110 people with out-standing
warrants for Building and Fire Code violations. The criminal
defendants include two property owners who violated vacate
orders for illegal conversions or Single Room Occupancies.
