Findings Released in Fatal Elevator Accident

The Department of Buildings and
Department of Investigation have
released their findings in the fatal
elevator accident at 285 Madison Avenue
in December. The investigations reveal
that workers failed to follow basic
safety procedures that would have
prevented the tragedy. DOB also
conducted the most expansive elevator
sweep in the Department's history -
inspecting 658 elevators across the
City. Inspectors found no conditions
similar to those related to the December
fatality.
