Stores Offering Shopping Hours to High Risk Population

As a result of COVID-19 response and the need for social distancing, some stores have created dedicated hours for seniors, people with disabilities and other vulnerable populations. The information below highlight store policies, hours and locations.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, ALDI stores will open at 8:30 a.m. and reserve the first hour of business for vulnerable shoppers. This includes senior citizens, expectant mothers and those with underlying health concerns.

BJ's Wholesale Club

All BJ's Wholesale Club locations are opening one hour early beginning Sunday, March 22, 2020 for members who are age 60 and over to shop in a less crowded environment. People ages 60 and up can use a designated entrance, from 8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m. daily at our Clubs.

Costco is offering pre-opening shopping hours from 9am - 10am for seniors and people with disabilities Monday through Friday.

Please Note: Costco in Brooklyn has custom hours 8am-9am, Monday through Friday.

Dollar General is strongly encouraging that the first hour of operations each day be dedicated solely for the shopping needs of senior customers, who are one of the groups most vulnerable to the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Seniors and individuals who have a weakened immune system can shop in-store between 9AM – 10AM.

Stop and Shop

Stop and Shop is providing early service from 6:00am – 7:30am for customers who are over 60 as well as customers who may have weakened immune systems and are more susceptible to COVID-19.

Target has reduced hours and close all stores by 9 p.m. daily. They reserve the first hour of shopping on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to support vulnerable guests, including the elderly and those with underlying health concerns. CVS will have their pharmacy locations within Target stores open during that time as well.

Trader Joe's

Trader Joe’s will dedicate the first hour of operation every day (either 8AM-9AM or 9AM-10AM depending on the store) to serve senior customers over the age of 60 and customers with disabilities who may need additional assistance while shopping.

Whole Foods

To support vulnerable communities during this pandemic, the first hour of grocery pickup at select Whole Foods Market locations in the U.S. is reserved for Prime members 60 years and older, those with disabilities and those who the CDC defines as high risk.

Most stores are open 9am–9pm weekdays, 24-hour stores are drive-thru only overnight 9pm–9am. Senior hours are available to senior citizen customers and patients age 55 and over every Tuesday starting March 24, 2020 from 8:00 am to 9:00 am, for a limited time period until further notice by Walgreens.
