Michelle Jennings, Science Teacher, NYC Junior Ambassadors Educator

Michelle is a Science & STEM teacher at the Brooklyn Science & Engineering Academy as well as a Lead Teacher at The Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s, Urban Advantage Program. As a science teacher she focuses on educating students on engineering and science concepts that will inspire them to investigate careers in environmental and computer science. As a UN Junior Ambassadors educator, she focuses on providing all students a rich science curriculum that introduces them to local and global concerns. As a Lead Teacher she educates other science teachers on methodologies for teaching science concepts to middle school students.

Michelle began her professional career as a Haitian Creole translator and ER Coordinating Manager at Kings County Hospital Center. She served as the Evening Administrator at Downstate Medical Center and held several administrative positions for many years at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt & Long Island College Hospital. In 2007, she joined the NYC Teaching Fellows program and began her career with the Department of Education, teaching high school students for seven years before transitioning to middle school. 

Michelle is a graduate from St. John’s University with a B.A in Psychology, a graduate of Central Michigan University with an MSA in Healthcare Administration, and a graduate of Long Island University with an MsEd, in Urban Education & Students with Disabilities. She was a finalist for the 2015 Big Apple Teachers  Award, a District Finalist at  the 2016 Big Apple Teachers Award & the recipient of the 2016 EverFi STEM Leadership award.
