Statement from Commissioner Bitta Mostofi on the American Dream and Promise Act

“Immigrants are integral members of our communities, and they make our city stronger. We applaud the American Dream & Promise Act and urge Congress to provide these life-changing protections to support the stability of families and children across the country and enable millions of Dreamers, TPS holders, and DED recipients to thrive. While we welcome this important step, we must also make sure that these protections do not come at the expense of restrictions based on people’s contact with a broken and racist criminal legal system. We urge Congress to take up the American Dream & Promise Act and continue the work of building a system that is truly just and inclusive of all immigrant communities.”
