Benjamin Solotaire

Benjamin Solotaire serves as Senior Advisor for the NYC Civic Engagement Commission. A longtime Brooklyn resident with deep ties to the communities around the Gowanus Canal, Benjamin brings a background in theater, event production, public service, and participatory democracy. He began his career in public service as an intern for Council Member Gale Brewer and later worked for then-Council Member Stephen Levin in Brooklyn's District 33, where he served as Community Liaison and Director of Participatory Budgeting for six years. He was also a candidate for the District 33 Council seat after Council Member Levin was term-limited. Outside of his work with CEC, Benjamin remains active with the Gowanus Canal Conservancy, Public Works at The Public Theater, and the Parole Prep Project. He has two grown children, Anya and Matthew.
