Child Care Center Property Tax Abatement

Child Care Center Property Tax Abatement

To address the child care desert crisis, the New York City is offering a property tax abatement program for qualifying property owners whose property construction, conversion, alteration or improvement completed after April 1, 2022, resulted in the creation of a new child care center or an increase in the maximum number of children allowed in an existing center.

Submit completed applications to the Department of Finance no later than March 15 prior to the tax year in which the abatement would take effect. The tax year begins on July 1. Applications received following the March 15 deadline are ineligible for an abatement starting the following July 1. For more details visit the Department of Finance website or download the New Childhood Center Property Tax Abatement FAQs.
