NYC Does Not Wait: 2020 Census Mobilization: Events Line-Up

NEW YORK, N.Y., September 25 – This week and next, NYC Census 2020’s multi-borough “Countdown to our Future” campaign will engage in approximately 100 events and activities to promote the census and provide census form assistance in several languages. While the Trump Administration continues to interfere with the census count, most recently by appealing the U.S. Northern District of California's 2020 Census ruling, which restored the October 31, 2020 census count deadline, NYC Census 2020 and its partners will continue to mobilize to ensure that every New Yorker is counted right away.

Media must RSVP to Sona Rai at srai@census.nyc.gov to attend and cover select public events. Additional events will be advised in the coming days.

Outreach includes a new “Count The Heroes” campaign, which aims to boost response rates among the healthcare workers who have kept New York safe and functioning throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the campaign, New Yorkers will also participate in the “Battle of the Boroughs” challenge. 50 lucky winners who complete the census online during the contest period will win a $200 gift certificate to a restaurant of their choice. A total of $10,000 in gift certificates are being generously donated by the United Way of New York City, and 25 city restaurants are participating through the City’s partnership with the NYC Hospitality Alliance. The contest provides an attractive incentive for New Yorkers to complete the census, and is a demonstration of support for the city’s restaurant industry. New Yorkers can register to enter at nyc.gov/boroughbattle. The contest ends on September 30.
