Discriminatory Harassment

Everyone who lives in or visits New York City has the right to do so safely and free from discrimination and discriminatory harassment.  The NYC Commission on Human Rights ensures that those who experience harassment because of who they are are protected by the City Human Rights Law.

Discriminatory harassment is threats, intimidation, harassment, coercion or violence that:

• Interferes with a person's civil or constitutional rights; and
• Is motivated in part by that person's actual or perceived race, creed, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or immigration or citizenship status or other protected status.

If you are a victim:

• Report discriminatory harassment to the police, especially if it is a violent bias-related crime.

• Report any discriminatory harassment incidents to the NYC Commission on Human Rights.
